![]() The biggest feature of the room is the floor-to-ceiling windows. We didn't hear anything from the hallway or surrounding rooms, and our room was right across from the elevators. Aren't sirens just a part of being downtown? It didn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary. ![]() I have also read complaints about sirens in the night being close to a major hospital. It felt like a memory foam type of mattress. I saw a review about uncomfortable beds, but we found our king bed to be very comfortable. Being a block off Michigan Ave, we generally walked everywhere or grabbed a rideshare. Turns out we did not take advantage of the in-and-out flexibility anyway. We had the option of just going with the city rates for this ramp, but those rates might have only been a little less - it wasn't clear to me - and without the convenience of being able to come and go. Parking in the public parking ramp next door was a hefty add-on at $60/day over Memorial Day weekend. I am disappointed in my choice.Ġ.15km from Beatrix Nothing extraordinary about this hotel, but it was clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly. There are so many nicer hotels within walking distance. There are so many beautiful hotels in Chicago. The room rates are on par with other hotels, but with this hotel you get generic, congested and worn down. Most of the time the signal was half strength – still useable but slow and prone to abort. INTERNET: For a hotel with a small footprint, I can’t understand why the coverage is spotty. The bathrooms were functional, but quite small – fortunately the kitchenette sink is handy for brushing teeth as the bathroom is much too small for two people getting ready. I can only imagine how miserable guests would be if they had back problems. Mattresses so worn you can see a visible divot and the broken-down condition makes for a bad night’s sleep. There’s even a sign posted in the elevator warning about lengthy delays. And the worse design feature – too few elevators. The hotel hallways look like dimly lit dorm hallways. It’s so small that if just a few people are checking in/out the lobby is crowded and chaotic. The lobby is frankly one of the ugliest I’ve seen in a long time. HOTEL: The hotel itself is generic and in poor shape. The negative, however, overwhelms the positive. The suites are roomy for being downtown Chicago. The location is also good – situated on a relatively quiet street and one block away from Michigan Avenue, there easy access to countless restaurants, stores and entertainment options. If you are on the south east corner the views from the rooms are good and if you are on a high floor facing east you can see the lake, the sunrise, and an expansive panorama. 0.06km from Beatrix Starting out with the positive: The staff is kind and helpful.
